Default Do you know how much your van weighs?

I was traveling on I75 and stopped off at a Pilot truck stop. They had the certified CAT scales so for $10, I thought it would be cheap entertainment to weigh my van. LOL.

I had myself, my wife and small kids with a full tank of gas in it.

I don't really have any heavy modifications other than the high top and a class III hitch.

I rolled up on to the scale, got weighed, and then went inside.

I got my ticket and it said:

6410 lbs

My van is listed in my signature. No wonder why I only get 12 around town

No surprise conversion vans are heavy. I recall a gentleman who had a conversion van with a 5.2 and it was struggling to pull hills and was over heating when pulling a trailer. When he calculated the max trailer they could pull he mistakenly used the number the van weighted before going to the conversion company.

He rolled the loaded rig over a truck stop scale and the combined weight was over 15Klbs, these vans are pretty heavy..

That is the legal weight for my 3/4 ton van. What does your door sticker say?

On paper conversion vans should reduce the towing capacity by the weight of the conversion. The towing limits listed often is for a empty cargo van I have heard of companies be deceptive with limits.

The weight of conversions vary widely so putting them on a
scale is smart, then you know how much GVWR is left for loading the van for trips.

Our last B3500 15 pass was 6825lbs weighed at truck stop.

With all of the tools, shelves, and materials I carry in my 1500 I'd be afraid to weight it.
