Default Help with ashtray

I need help with my ashtray. Some change got in back of the ashtray and now it will not close. Does anyone know how to get in back of the ashtray so that I can get the change out?

Thanks,

Well, I'm not sure what year you've got. I don't know if it's the same on the brand new trucks, but take off the dash trim piece and you'll see four screw holding in the ashtray, unscrew and the ashtray is free.

Thanks Dodgegirl19,
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab SB.
Is it a lot of work to get the dash trim off?

Nope it's not hard, just don't yank at it... be gentle, it can be tough, but it's only held in by clips, easy to remove and reinstall.

Glad I could help!!

Ditchdoc and Dodgegirl19,
Thank you both very much, don't mean to be a pain but are the pull tabs on the whole dash trim itself and are the tabs on certain corners? Just don't want to screw anything up!

Thanks again,

I have the '03 Ram...and my ashtray just pulls out. It will feel stiff at first but pull down at the same time and it should pop out. (Had a cigarette butt get behind mine and it did the same thing)

I have a 2002 1500, Quad Cab SWB and had the same problem. The insert just slips out of the door that opens and then just pull the door out of the clips that hold it in place. Getting it back in takes a little longer but it is fairly easy.
