i wouldn't push beyond max just due to possibility of hitting the water jackets, when the bore is at the max it's time to put sleeves in. Probably .100-.120 over would be the absolute max.

If you bore more than .035 (92mm), you'll also need aftermarket head gaskets, which are rather expensive.
