That's up to you. The gear ratio code is the one that has me thinking "quick Learn" . It's always hard to tell when a code was set. Some can be stored for quite a while without the symptom recurring.. If your solenoid pack is bad , it will kick out a new code after the quick learn. Most transmission codes are not erased by a battery disconnect. Battery disconnect clears the PCM until new codes are sent in. "limp in" mode is actually more related to the tranny controller than the PCM. A shop with a Snap-On MT2500 should be able to do a quick learn. What might be helpful is if you can find one of these portable computers is to put it in pilot mode and watch what your tranny is doing. It will tell you where the tranny is shifting and gear ratio and such. Good Luck. I've personally done the A604 rodeo quite a few times.

Bad o2 sensors will cause your car to drive in limp mode. When your car has a bad o2 sensor it is not getting the correct Air/Fuel reading and then it cause the car to go into limp mode because of it. Limp mode will cause your car to run rich, so that could be one of the causes of the low mpg. But I believe your transmission problems are the major source of your low mpg. Get that fixed first and see how you go from there. The car may have been running in limp mode so long from the transmission and running rich that it clogged up the o2 sensors. Either way they will more than likely need to be replaced as well.

I know that a bad O2 sensor will cause crappy gas mileage mine was doing it till I swapped in a good sensor till I found it , unfortunately mine had no codes, so I couldn't use it to find the bad one ... I've never heard of a bad O2 sensor cause the tranny to go into limp mode

Okay I'm going friday to get all the parts and get everything I SHOULD need.

Heres the list so far:
5 quarts ATF+ transmission fluid - $20
Transmission filter ---------------- $10
one of the o2 sensors------------- $5
another top 02 sensor------------ $5
shift solenoid--------------------- $5

Total: $45!

So I'm going to replace the two top o2 sensors, drain my tranny fluid, run a cleaning solution through, replace shift solenoid AND transmission filter and then fresh GOOD tranny fluid. So hopefully after all this the car will be fixed atleast a little bit. If these things don't fix it, I will go to a shop to get the transmission reprogrammed. If this doesn't work, it will lead me to conclude that I will have to end up that I will need to swap the transmission.

Yeah it's used haha, but it's coming from a you-pull-it place, that's why it is so cheap. I know they test a lot of the things, but if one of them would happen to not work then I only lost 5 dollars. I'd rather throw in used ones then pay $160 for two new ones.
