Default gas mileage?

i'm wondering what sized tank my 98 stratus has, and how many miles per gallon i should expect on average? i've been searching and can't seem to find mileage anywhere. but i found a site that says it holds 16 gallons?? that seems like a lot for a rather small car (i think its small).

my stratus holds 16.3, i believe..so 16 should be about right for yours as well. do you not have an owners manual?

your MPG depends on your engine..my auto 02 RT gets around 22 around town, and on all highway trips ive gotten as high as 30.

ok..so it should be a 2.4...i would think that if you drive it normally, you should get at LEAST similar mileage to my car...i think that mine is a little lighter, and has more hp...and i drive my car very hard.

do you know what mpg you get?

not yet. i just bought it on saturday and i haven't filled it up yet, had about 3/4 tank of gas in it already. but if the trip odometer is to be trusted (i don't know when it was reset the last time, if they reset it when they filled it, or waited a little while, or reset it at the end of the last tank, etc.) i'm just below a half tank and its gone about 150 miles already....when i fill it up next i'll keep better track, lol, hopefully i'll have a definate answer in a couple weeks.

i've found gas mileage can be a big sign of something wrong if your getting poor mileage. my 90 olds cutlass, normally got about 22-23mpg, and it had the 3.1 litre 6 cylander. then one week, just out of the blue, literally, it only got 17mpg....and it continued to only get 15-17mpg....and not long after that it started going downhill really fast.

oh yeah, i know tires can have an effect on gas mileage....could the fact that my stratus still has snow tires on effect my mileage any significant ammount? they're good snow tires, so i'm going to keep them, but i
m going to get some summer tires for...the summer...lol....

i agree about the car not running right being shown by the bad mileage..i figured that was what you were trying to figure out.

i would say that if you dont at least get as good as mine, something could be slightly wrong...

if its got a 16 gallon tank, that's the same as my oldsmobile. whenever i filled up my olds i usually put about 11 gallons in it. i never let the guage go below the 1/2 mark, because on that particular car, 1/2 a tank actually ment 1/4, and 1/4 meant you had about a gallon left.... it would get over 100 miles on the first 1/8 of the tank. i dunno, buying a car for me is sort of like having a baby. i just want to know everything i can about it.
