Default Problem with the battery or could it be something else?

Ran the air conditioner for the ride home from work..(about 3 miles), shut the engine off when I got home and when I tried to start the engine right back up it would barely turnover. Had my 02 Stratus service on tuesday and they told me the battery needed replaced, well did the above again today and the same problem happened. Tried to start theengine after about 20 minutes or so and it fired right up, is the above apossible problem or just normal?

Thanks, John

It does sound like you have a weak charging system. If you can take it into AutoZone. They can come out and check your battery and tell you if it is going bad. But if the dealership is telling you that, then it probably is. Just go grab a new battery and drop it in.

The dealership put a NEW battery in on Tuesday that's why I'm a bit concerned.

Thanks for the reply.

Ok you didn't say you had it replaced. I would take the car back to the dealership and see if they can find what the problem is. If that is what the car was in for originally, the dealership didn't fix the problem.

This is just a shot in the dark, but check for a parasitic drain, and like BloodRed said, your alternator could be inadequate. Id say yea, take it back to the dealership and make sure they do a draw test and then do a charging system test. But make sure that they also check for a parasitic drain. That seems very possible. Are you parking on any hills?
