Default locking gas caps?

since the stratus doesn't have the interior button to pop the little gas door, its pretty acessable from the outside, and with gas prices the way they are....

i'm thinking about getting a locking gas cap. has anyone ever used one? do they have any effect on emissions, gas mileage, or anything else? the reason i ask is because the same week i switched my oldsmobile over to a locking gas cap was the same week it started getting really terrible gas mileage, but even after switching it back to its old one, the poor mileage remained, so i'm sure they're unrelated, but i'm still paranoid.....

take it to autozone or some like parts store. they read codes for free. you could have a vac leak or might just need a tune up (air filter, plugs, wires, fuel filter, or tires are under pressure). codes will let you know if you have an issue. good luck.

no, the stratus is fine, my old oldsmobile had the issues. i don't own that car anymore. they didn't have anything to do with the locking gas cap.
