Default CMTC temp problems

the other day i pulled a CMTC from a chrysler sebring sedan(2001 i belive) and put it into my 03 strat sedan witha 2.4L. everything on it is working correctly(or so i think) except the temperature reading. it has only been reading 69 deg. i know for a fact that it is warmer outside. My parents vehicles (jeeps) are reading 78, and 79. i did a self-diagonistic on the CMTC and it passed. what could be causeing the temp to be off so much? also running cool water over the sensor didnt help.

not sure if it matters, but the sebring that i pulled it from was a V6 and the front end was smashed up pretty bad. but i dont see how that would cause problems in my car. from what i can tell, my temp sensor is fine.

thanks for your help.
