Default Help: any 41TE rebuild experts here?

This is a continuation of a previous thread. The limp-in problem is documented here: http://www.glocktech.net/Cirrus

There are two accumulator pistons that are held in their cylindersin the trans case by springs, that sit on the valve block assembly. Should these pistons stay put in their cylinders by the tightness of the two sealing rings? In other words, if the weight of the piston is enough to allow the piston fall out of the cavity, are the seals shot?

and 2: if these seals were worn out, would that cause the trans to totally slip while trying to shift into3rd ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
