Default oil catch can

i was thinking about getting an oil catch can to prevent the forming of sludge cause i have a 2002 dodge stratus se coupe 3.0 hopefully preventing any problems with sludge. I do use high quality penzoil oil but i still would like to put a oil catch can if it would help prevent sludge too.

OCCs are almost "required" on some cars like the SRT-4 due to the badly designed PCV valve combined with the power of the engine. Oil brand/quality has nothing to due with the blow-by generated. The blow-by in SRT-4s gunks up the throttle body as well as the intercooler, making for less power. If all you are worried about is "sludge", regular oil changes with a high quality oil will go a long way to prevent that. If your car is running OK after 5 or 6 years without an OCC, you probably don't need one.......

Oil sludge isn't an issue in the 3.0, only the 2.7, and I think DC addressed that some time ago. Stick to decent oil change intervals and you'll be fine.

Might try Auto-rx as preventive maintenance if you have sludge worries.
