98 dodge stratus water pump.
Ok guys I'm new here and I have this dodge stratus I bought for an X-mas gift for my mother that has a leaky water pump....
I need to change it. Are there any tricks of the trade I should know?
I'm not new to cars. I own a performance shop.
I'm just new to this car.
Any help wpuld be greatly appreciated.

RE: 98 dodge stratus water pump.
It's a PITA to get to it but no real "tricks". Once you get over there to it though you might as well replace the timing belt (or you'll have to go through all of the PITA to get to it again later) and check the tensioner pully too. I know of more than a few people that hear a strange noise (most often at start up) that almost sounds like knocking valves / rocker arms. It usually goes away in a minute... They found out the hard way that it's a sticking tensioner pully. So check that bad boy really good while you're there too.

Not sure if this will help at all but, here is the service manual for the 2g stratus 2.4L, not sure if it's the same as your 1g.

EDIT: here's for the water pump:
