Default My '03, 2 door Stratus R/t 3.0Liter

Hey, I just registered onto the forum because I just recently started to do work on my 03' stratus. I been wanting to do work on it for a while but just recently saved up sum cash to get it done. I bought a Injen Cold air 2 piece intake for my car and installed it fairly fast. cost me around 195-205 i made it short ram for the winter n possibly will switch it to cold since theres another pipe to bring it down by the fender.

I want to know what i could do next that wouldn't cost me massive amounts but would give me some increase in accel/speed. I was thinking a exhaust system poss. flowmaster (Which is the best exhaust for my stratus) .. Highest output in power I've read all the stickies n stuff n i havent located a specific model exhaust for my car. I want the best flow/power from this exhaust but i honestly do not want a Fart cannon ricer asian crap u kno. Something deep/aggressive doesn't necessarily have to be v8 mustang gt sound but as long as it doesn't fart and have rice coming out (lol sry im not racist).

Basically what's the next big step after a CAI that's a cheaper step adds performance and isn't to hard to do. If noone can locate a full exhaust system like i was talking about would just a cat conv. improve performance.

You don't really even need a full exhaust system to achieve a nice tone to your exhaust, if you have the 3.0L, just take off the muffler and weld a tip on, nicest sound you'll find.

I think that is waaaaayyy too much for an exhaust system on this car. You can get the Dynomax system much cheaper and it's basically the same. The only difference with aftermarket cat-back systems on our car is fewer resonators and a different muffler.

Don't waste your money. This car sucks for modding.

i find that just removing the muffler causes too much ofa "nasal" sound...

sorry...i wasnt trying to discredit your advice...i was just voicing my thoughts on the "no muffler" setup, although im sure that alot of people like how their car sounds, and they probably dont like how my exhaust sounds.

i agree with several of the comments here. the exhaust systems available for the RTs are awfully high priced, again in my opinion. your local exhaust shop can do the same work for cheaper, so long as they have a pipe bender. my exhaust is custom bent, as while i liked the stock sound, i wanted a little more noise, but the few "store bought" systems that i had heard on the rts and eclipses just didnt do it for me. i just bent 2.5" pipe, from the mid pipe, up over the suspension, smoothing the lines a bit, and rather than straight pipe or a standard finished muffler, i went with a header muffler off of the mirada. i hated how it sounded on the mirada, so i figured that it couldnt hurt to try it on the stratus...this is what i ended up with:
