Default Need help ASAP

Ok heres the low down:

1996 Dodge Stratus 2.4l DOHC ATX
~109,000 miles

Recently had a tune up (battery, wires, plugs, air filter, oil/filter change, seafoamed)
Just had fuel pump replaced

Problem:

Today started cold just fine (though something sounded like a whining belt for a second or two which it's never done before)
Ran for about 2 blocks at a higher RPM (i was in a hurry)
All of a sudden it died, engine shut down, rpm's dropped to 0, oild light and cel flashed.

Pulled over, turned ignition off and let it sit for a minute.
Turned key to ON, all lights come on as normal however oil light stays on (i'm honestly not sure but i think it generaly goes off before i start the car)
CEL doesnt stay on.
Fuel pump DOES kick in.
I go to start the car and it sounds like the starter is turning over freely as if it's not catching the flywheel.

The only code i got out of the turn-key method is a 54 (other than the usual 12 and 55)

I really need help with this asap

Thanks!
Dan

as far as i know the timing belt wasn't replaced (i just got the car in august).

I checked it out and it seems to be fine.

How do i check the sensor (wiring is fine, did alot of work on that when i was having problems with the TPS)
