Default 2001 Stratus Rt

Im new hear and im in the process of buying a 2001 Stratus RT. I know nothing about american cars but I do know a little bit about what engine it is running. What I have been hearing from people thus far is I got my car for a steel. I paid 4900 for it with a new clutch and other internals. I know the baseline 210hp is a good place to start and was wondering what my next step should be? Weither it be a cold air intake or a full exhaust system. I guess im just looking for some info and some websites where I can order stuff.

there is a very limited aftermarket for our cars...(i have an 02 rt coupe).
when you say "full exhaust", what are you including? if you mean full, like headers back, that would give you some power gain, but the gains from a CAI are minimal...i have catback and CAI on my car, and its a little quicker than stock...i would also recommend deyeme racing solid motor mounts.

as for buying parts, check around for places that sell performance stuff for 2000-2005 mitsubishi eclipse GT and GTS models...the parts are, for the most part, interchangable.

I know about the eclipse that is actully the car I was going to buy was an 03 Eclipse GTS. The price of the Rt caught my eye and low and behold I opened the hood and that beautiful 6g72 was there. So insted of paying 10k for an 03 GTS,I paid 5k for the same power plant. Nice trade I think.

Well not exactly the same power. The GTS has a different intake manifold and the compression ratio is also different. Your car is the same as the GT power wise. I haven't noticed any gains at all with the Exhaust and Intake. If you look through club3g as an alternate source you will find an abundant amount of information on how to make your car "quicker."

for what its worth, my auto rt picked up quite a bit from stock to modded..my stock times were in the 16.50s, and my best time was in the 15.90s...with the mods being a shorter front tire/wheel combo, mounts, t-stat, intake, and exhaust...and thats with my sub box and such.

ive not heard that the compression ratio is higher in the GTS..i thought that it required premium fuel because of the timing alteration along with the different manifold to make the extra 10hp or whatever...

What should I be looking at as far as forced induction is concerned. I know what ever turbo can work on an eclipse can work on the R/t. Looking to grab mabey an extra 50hp or so for under 1k. I have no idea to start.

youre not going to get any of the forced induction kits for under a grand unless theyre used...you coudl get a bottle setup, but ive heard of some problems, even with tuned strats.
