Default Who would win?

(Yes I did post this same thing bout an intrepid a week ago). Well I found a 2001 Stratus SE coupe I am going to see this weekend. Its is an automatic, with the 3.0 V6 in it. It has 83,000 miles, dealer wants 6995 for it. I just recently found out these cars are based off the Eclipse, which is awesome. Well my friend has a 2000 Mustang V6 auto with 116,000 miles on it. It was an ex rental car, and was then owned by another young guy who beat it. Well when I say young I mean my age, 18. So who would win a 1/4 mile drag. Im not gonna street race so dont worry, im just curious.

What I want to know is how you managed to get a a SE Coupe with a 3.0L V6 in it.. Are you sure you don't have an RT? Or are you sure you don't have a 2.4L i4cyl 4G64? Because I have the same exact car, only mine is a 2.4L and as far as I know, that's all they came in. I could be seriously mistaken though. But to answer your question, if it's the 2.4L, you may have a really long haul down that quarter mile (I'm thinking they'll beat you by at least 2 seconds, putting down at least 50 more HP than you?) Of course, if you do have a V6 SE, I want to know where you got it, and want pictures.

Well, then again, it is a Mustang, so maybe you could leave it in the dust either way

Good luck, nonetheless.

Make sure you count the cylinders. Dealers a lot of the time don't know anything about the Stratus. At least the ones in my area didn't.

ive seen SE's with the 3.0 in it...but i believe it to be an odd configuration. When i was a mechanic, i had a customer with a plain jane SE coupe with the 3.0 in it...and it took different brakes than my RT. i had her coming in for a brake job, so i ordered parts for an SE, and they didnt fit..so i ordered parts for an RT, and they also didnt fit.

i had to end up measuring the hat and all of the other dimensions of the rotors to get some that fit.

my auto 3.0 ran a best time of 15.96, with the average times in the low 16s, but that was with my "track tires", that were low pro 15" tires for more gearing. ive beaten auto V6 mustangs, but in a drag race the manual V6 will beat you if he can drive. however, they cut off at like 112mph, i believe...and the stratus is good for up to 120, i believe...some are governed, mine is not so i can get up around 140...which is more than enough to beat the V6 mustangs that cut off.

There is such thing as a V6 SE. Its strictly automatic; no tiptronic or manual version is available. It doesnt come with foglights or compass either.

The 3.0 is the only engine that came with ANY coupes in 01. SE (198hp) and RT (200hp).

I have an 01 and I have a 2.4l 4 cyl.... SE trim at that.

The 01/02 SE's came in either a I4 or V6, and the 03-05 SXT's came strictly with a I4. The R/T was the only version with the V6.

do you mean in 03-05 the 3.0s only came in the RT?

i could have sworn that there was a 2.7L stratus sxt coupe at the nationals a couple years back..in 01 or 02...but ive never found any proof of that option existing...but at the same time, i dont know why someone would have swapped THAT motor in...

Oops, yeah. Unlike in 01/02 where the V6 was in either trim, for 03-05 the 3.0 was strictly in the R/T.

Ive never seen or heard of a 2.7 sedan motor in a coupe. That must have been fun to do...[8D]
