Default Clutch Pedal Makes Popping sound

I have an 03 Stratus RT, 5 spd. When I push the clutch pedal in it makes a popping sound and I can feel it in the clutch. This happens when the clutch pedal is pressed in about an inch. It does not feel like it is the clutch itself, rather the clutch pedal assembly. It does not appear to be causing any problems with shifting. If I push the clutch in, with force on a slight angle(slightly towards the passenger side of the vehicle) the problem appears to be non existent. If you have any assistance it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and help!
