I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus with 2.4 liter engine and in the last week I've been experiencing the following problem. When driving the car at normal driving speed anywhere from 35 to 50 all the sudden the r.p.m.'s drop down to zero and you think the car is going to stall but then the r.p.m.'s go back up to normal and everything is okay. It's only happened 3 times but it concerns me as I know that shouldn't be happening and I'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions on what I should check.Thanks for your help.

 

Still desperately need help with this. Checked crankshaft sensor and it's okay. Car just stalled on wife when driving and restarted with no problems.However car was hard starting a couple nights ago after it stalled and we had to wait several minutes before it started up again. Please help, this is a real problem.

 

Possible fuel filter/pump, vacuum line. I have a 98 with similar problems that I have yet to figure out. Open to suggestions.

 

it could also be the relay for the fuel pump.
