Default Engine needs replaced. Upgrade? 98 Stratus 2.0l 5spd

I have a 98 Dodge Stratus 2.0L w/ 5spd that needs the engine replaced. It is going through about 1-1.5qt of oil every fuel fill up and has a knocking noise that comes and goes at idle. I know this is not good and have already verified oil PSI is an issue.10w40 IDLE WARM- <10psi ; LOAD WARM- ~25psi ; LOAD COLD- ~70-75psi ; IDLE COLD- ~25-30psi.

I was looking at replacing the car but seems there isn't many decent ones in the 140K or less for under 2K max.

I was looking around the last few days at swapping the engine and possibly putting in a 2.4 but only found documented swaps for neons. My dad found a local engine, 2.0 from a Breeze with 75K on it for $500.

Is it worth putting a 2.4 in? I was looking to get a little more kick from it but I have also owned the car since 91K so it really never had all its power.
