Guys,

So the wife's 2005 Dodge Stratus will not start and I was hoping you guys could shed some light on this. Personally it sounds like the starter is stuck.

DETAILS:

* i set in the drivers seat
* I turn the key to the on position
* i can see all the lights, check motor, fuel, oil and temp gauge illuminate
* I can hear the electric fuel pump kick in (you know that 2005 fuel injected vehicle power up sound.
* head lights are bright as can be
* when I turn the key
------ the dash board light dim a little (thats normal)
------ I can hear something under the hood going (clack clack clack clack) only faster than you just read it.
* I release the key and the system powers down
* I turn the key again and the process repeats.

Sounds like the starter or starter solenoid is sticking to me.


I'll remove the starter this weekend and have it testing locally, before I poor money into it.

What are your thoughts??????

Has always checking a starter problem, you should have a fully charged battery. I would say you are on the right track.
