Default 05 4D stratus coolant leak

hi guys, im semi new to this forum and had helped me decide to get the 05 stratus. anyways to the point, i am leaking coolant BADLY. i went to midas to let them check it out, they called me to take a look where it was leaking. theres a peephole on the block frontside and down the oil pan. midas told me my water pump is working fine..so, anybody knows why is there a hole on my block and why the hell is it for other than leaking my coolant?

thanks

that hole drains MOST of my coolant.. but leaves a 20% or less left inside reserve. still driveable for a while.

It could be a freeze plug leaking.

that's the Drain for ur Waterpump. The design of this engine's waterpump is retarded. It is inside the Engine, with a Weep hole routes coolant out of the engine when the waterpump leaks. once in a while it leaks inside the engine and lock up the motor.

doing a waterpump on that engine blows. Expect an expensive repair bill. If you are fixing it, use ONLY factory waterpump.

Its not a freeze plug. Its the water pump that is leaking. That because the water pump is driven by the timing chain. Is the leak on the driver side? If its on the driver, get a price on a water pump job. Its about an 7.5 hour job.

yeah, the Right side of the engine where the Belts are, right? waterpump's Drain Hole routes to the Front of the engine block. It is the Waterpump leaking.
How many miles u got on ur car?

I think Master tech meant to say passenger side instead, or he works on Right hand Drive vehicle. The driver/left side is the Transmission.
