Default How to add a new cigarette lighter

My problem is that I have a cigarette lighter that dosn't work. Is there a kit you can buy to make a new one. I don't want to fix the old one because the dash board moves with it so I am afaird of the dashboard breaking. All I want to do is add a new one in a different location.

hmm, well how about this..do you have any idea why it doesnt work? do any other acessories not work? might it be a fuse issue?

if youre going to add another one, go to any parts store, and they should sell them...if you go to dodge, it will cost you a ton..cigarette lighters work by completing the circuit, so you would need to run a power line and a ground line, and whatever you stick in there completes the circuit...

what else am i not answering? or am i not answering the right thing?

Yea i think there like $3.00 at walmart, connect the + to a ignition switched signal (cigg lighter fuse is good) and the - to ground. The only thing is, there ugly, so put it under the seat or something.

generally a fuse is the first thing you should always check when a cigarette lighter doesnt work. Some cars are funny about how they set them up. I had a car that would blow the fuse everytime i put the required one in....i started running a 30 amp instead of a 15amp.....it stopped blowing it and my cigarette lighter worked....

Default The fuse works

I took the fuse that controled the cigarette lighter and put it in the one that controlls the headlights and the headlights worked. So the fuse works. alpine25 do you know what they call the thing that you can buy?
