Default 96 Cirrus Shuts off while driving.

Car just turn off while driving down the highway. Will restart itself after about 5-10 seconds and I just keep going. Drove 250 highway miles today and had it happen 3 times. I'm worried that one of these time it will not pop back on by itself and I'll be stuck in the middle of traffic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Scott

Does anything else electrical shut off on the car when this happens?
Have you had the computer scanned for error codes?

whoa you mean the engine stops turning all together and then turns itself back on? Sounds like a ECM or sensor problem. Belt tension is loose? Other components turn off as well?

oh wait, perhaps its the regulator. How fast were you going? If you were blazing down the highway at 100+ MPH, then the answer would be simple...
