1999 Stratus Opinions Needed

Been looking for a cheap fuel efficient vehicle, looking at a local 99 Stratus with 2.5 V6 and automatic with 114000 miles, just wondering how economical vehicle would be, and would the transmission be problematic, I had a '93 Lebaron with a A604 tranny and it ruined an otherwise great vehicle. Thanks for any input !!

Well, the 99 Stratus has the 41TE (I know its the same thing), but the TE trannies have all of the updated parts and with regular services have emerged into Chryslers best FWD transmissions. Well, actually now the only FWD trannies. The electronics are better than they were on the 604 to prevent the catstrophic failures that occured with some of the 604s.

Hey moparth, I have a 97 stratus es with the 2.5 with the automatic. It has 126k on it, and on my last fill up I figured up I get 31 mi to the gallon, didnt know if thats what you were wantin, but I have also yet to have any problems.

Yah I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus with a 41TE and I have 134000 miles and it hasn't given me any problems. In my personal opin. Dodge is a hell of a car.

ok, what do you want from the car? if you got a 10mile commute go with a scooter (80mpg). brand new go for about -$1000 for base models, and you laugh ALL the way to the bank.

the strat IS a good ride, only issues i've ever heard is the tranny don't take abuse well (2F2F type driving), good luck.
