Default Hole in Oil Filter engine kills

I was traveling at about 50 mph or so and my oil light came on, Before I could get off the road with my car the engine killed. My brother checked my car out and I had no oil. I put oil in my car and he found the leak. It was my oil filter. Now the problem lies wtih my engine. If this moter blown or locked up? Or does Dodge Stratus have something that shuts off the motor?

I would drain the oil that remains out of it and replace the filter and og course refill it lol. Try and start it and if you have no knocking, rapping or noise that wasn't there before then you got off lucky. As you stated though you and oil and restarted it as long as you didn't run it like tht and risk causing more dammage then you should be ok.

If you get your oil changed at a shop, and did so recently, I'd be considering calling them about this.......

However, like thump said, drain what you can, and I'd even go so far as to pour a quart thru and just let it drain to make sure that nothing comes out in it....

Try starting it up but I wont lie, that doesnt sound too good.
