OK, here it is... ive got a viper alarm/remote start on my 01 strat r/t, the other day i went into the store came out started the car with the remote, got in, turned the key, hit the brake and it killed it. so i tried to start it with the key, and nothing would come on, not even the radio. so i then tried the remote again, and it started the car, but it still doesnt let me initiate it by putting the key to on and hitting the brake, all it does its kill the engine. its almost as if its not reading the key being in the ignition. could it be the ignition thats the problem or is it the security system ****ing it up? i towed it to a garage, they spent an hour looking at it, charged me 112 bucks and said its the security system faulty wiring somewhere, (never had a problem with it since i baught the car) and that they cant help me. i dont wanna pay some asshole for any more work if its not even getting fixed. looking for some appreciated advice.

did you have someone install it for you? If so, you'll need to take it back to them to have them re-do it. If you've got a sentry key system you have to remember that you need a bypass in order for your alarm to work properly. It's a little box that has a duplicate key inside of it and fools your engine into thinking that there's a valid key in the ignition, but this will only work when starting with the remote. If you tap the brake, it'll turn off the engine until there's a key in the ignition. It just sounds like the guys who installed the alarm messed up on the install and forgot about the sentry key system.

ok lemme clearify this... the remote system was in it when i baught it a year and a half ago, the dealership i baught it it had no clue it was even in there, and has worked perfectly fine for me the entire time. when it did crap on me at the current moment, no wires had been touched, it worked perfectly fine one minute then the next not at all. and then of coarse, i call the dealership on friday to see whats going on, after asking for my name and how to spell it about a dozen times, they come back and say ok i found the paperwork its done, it was a wire in the braking system that was undone u can come get it, so i go to get it, pay the high ass bill get in it and find out hahah they didnt fix anything! still the same exact stuff happening, i was sooo pissed.
