Default Intake Problems

I just recently tried putting on an AEM cold air intake, but the MAFS is being a pain. Everytime you plug it in it studders and tried to stall itself out.

When unpulgged it runs fine, but runs lean or rich. Is there a chance I need a new MAFS or a new chip or something, has anyone else had these problems?

And is there a possibility that the MAFS was put on backwards or does it matter?

Anybody have anything, and is therea service manual available for an 04 Stratus R/t??

ok...the MAFS has one side that is round, which should easily work with a silicone piping adapter, and the other side, which should be "upstream" is rectangular, and should require a special adapter...i have highlighted the parts in the drawing included.

did you touch any of the inside parts of the MAFS? does the screen and center element look ok?

Yea those are all fine. The MAFS is fine I checked that. Its a possiblity I put the MAFS backwards, I honestly don't remember but I'd be a complete idiot if I did it wrong. So when you put your intake in you R/T you had no problems when you plugged the MAFS in? No studder or stalling of any kind?

now that you mention it, i did with my first CAI, which i had to make because i couldnt find one when i bought the car. if you have any type of leak between the MAFS and the throttle body, it will cause it to run lean, because the MAFS is registering a given amount of air, but the actual amount is higher due to the leak. i had a leak right at the rubber fitting that went over the throttle body. check to make sure that all of your connections are good and tight. this problem created a sputter, which eventually worked its way into an occassional stall over time...
