Default idle question?? wierd all of a sudden

hey, i have an 01 R/T. for the past 3 days or so it has been acting a little wierd. when i start her up in the morning the idle goes right up to almost 2000 rpm and stays there for like 5 secs, comes down to 1000 then goes to 1500, does this a couple times. yesterday even after a min it was still doing it and i actualy had to tap the gas to get it down to around 1000. it seamed to run a little rough for a few mins then after that all is great. it seems like its struggling to find the idle. it only does this when the car is cold meaning first start up of the day cold. when its warm starts up fine and has no other problem. i dont have any check engine lights or any other sign of anything wrong, could this be a throttle positioning sencor starting to go bad or is it something electrical maybe? i have no clue. thanks

It might be some dirt in the fuel line, check your filters, I had a dirty filter which caused the fuel to "backup" a bit, this caused the engine to surge but once I replaced the filter my problem was gone.

i have 70000 miles, ngk plugs, cold air intake, it may be the filter, i try to keep the fuel about half tank but a couple times it ran almost to empty. il replace it and see how it reacts. how hard is it to get to the filter? some cars are a nightmare

im not sure on the fuel filter location...maybe B_52 can shed some light on that?

when you ran the tank very low, you may have picked up some dirt in the tank...

yeah im thinking that i did suck something into the filter. it started fine last night and this morning, maybe it cleaned itself out or something, hopefully. i just dont want that thing acting up this winter, i live in western ny, we get the coldest winters here near buffalo, right off the lakes. thanks again, il look into changing that filter anyways, wont hurt anything, thanks

Remove and clean out the throttle body real good, then remove the negative terminal from the battery for a few minutes then reattach.
