Default Power Steering Issue

I have an '04 Stratus R/T which has had a minor power steering fluid leak for almost a year. I've been keeping fluid in it, and recently decided to take it in to my dealership for repair while it was still under warranty. I get a call from the service man, and he asks me if I've been putting PS fluid in it. I tell him yes. He then tells me that it is suppose to have transmission fluid in it, and the PS fluid I've been putting in it has contaminated the PS system, so the repairs needed would not be covered by the 3 Year/36 Month warranty. Is this really the case, or is this guy trying to peel me?

Default RE: Power Steering Issue

Addording to what I read in my Haynes manual for Dodge Stratus, avenger, and sebring 1995 through 2002.
Power steering fluid for 2001 and earlier should be Mopar ATF + or Dextron2 ATF
Power steering fluid for 2002 and later should be Diamond ATF or equivalent ATF

I would think you would fall into the latter category.
