Default is it worth doing it yourself?

It is time to change my transmission fluid. I have looked up how to do it in the service manual and it looks messy and complicated. Is it worth doing it myself? Also it is telling me that I do not have a drain hole for the fluid. Is this right for my 97 stratus?

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any modern car with a drain plug for the transmission fluid anymore

Just a little thought...

You didnt mention in this that you would change the tranny filter? DO THAT! Never, ever flush a tranny with the old filter in it. That will KILL your tranny.

You probably already knew that, but if any one else reads this and doesnt know...be advised.

Reason is, you flush it and all the crud in the old filter will flush out with the less viscous new fluid right into your casing. That crud gets caught up in the gears and destroys it.

And if you have it done by a pro...MAKE THEM CHANGE THE FILTER! They dont sometimes, the jerks. And then youre driving along one day and...BAM! tranny gone.
