04 Stratus rough idle..

Bear w/me as I am a newbie at this....I need your expertise advise, opinions, etc...this morning I started my car and the engine light stayed on and then began flashing and the car was idling very very rough. I have never had an ounce of trouble w/it. Saturday I drove it and then yesterday it just sat in the driveway and then this??? I did not drive it this a.m. as I wasn't sure if it would make it to work or not and afraid w/the engine light flashing to drive it. It only has about 40,000 miles on it and like I said not an ounce of trouble. Saturday I did get gas at 2 different places but it drove the rest of the way home just fine which was about 70 miles. Any help w/this would be fantastic. Thanks.
