My wife got her brother's car. He is a union organizer who puts alot of highway miles. As far as I know, it is the original engine. The transmission has been replaced twice by her brother -- apparently, the shop messed up with the first replacement. It is a 99 stratus with a 4 cyl and has 295,000 miles.

...Toyota is one make that is unarguably one of the best if not THE best automakers in the world.Had a Celica that ran for 247k on original tranny, clutch, engine with nothing more than routine maintenance performed - not even a head gasket...
happy that u had a good experience with Toyota. we had a Tercel and it was well taken care of, babied and everything and it died at 140k. and we had a Subaru, granted it lasted till 200k, but it was a money pit from the moment that we bought it. but anyways, glad that u had a good expierence with Toyota and now i shall leave this forum and let it get back on topic...sry guys.
1999 ES with 112,000 on odometer. Just purchased - I am fourth owner. It runs and looks great. I am impressed with the ride and my daily driver is an '02 Saab 9-5. Hope it won't cost alot to maintain but that cab forward design sure makes things hard to work on as a diy'er.
02 red R/T 3.0L a little under 65 K. Been deployed a couple times so car has sat. Just put in one of those dry cell batteries.

Red 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T. (3.0L) Short ram intake.
2000 that I bought in '04 with 59,000 miles on it now has 194,000 and runs great. The only things I've had to replace are a serpentine belt, tie rod, brakes and tires. I have never even changed the spark plugs and I'm almost afraid to at this point - I don't want to mess with a good thing! The car gets me from Buffalo to Rochester on a daily basis and has never broken down on me - not even a flat tire. My only complaint is that the front of the hood is now showing significant rust, and this seems to be quite a common problem with this body type.
