On a 2001 Stratus coupe with V6 engine, 22,000 actual miles, noticed a noise that starts around 30 mph and continues to high speed. Noise seems to be related to road speed only - does not change when shifting trans to neutral or running in a lower gear with the higher engine RPM.
It has always had a lot of road noise but the last 2,000 miles this noise is much worse. Tires are Goodyear Eagle LS, 16" and have plenty of tread. Even rotated tires and found no change in noise. It does not seem to be coming from a specific part of the car. I jacked up each wheel and rotated each one and checked for play and bearing noise but none was found.
It does sound like road noise but if so would it suddenly get much worse? It is smooth with no vibration from the wheels. Is there a way to tell if it is tire noise without buying a new set?

Hard to say, are the tires inflated at the right psi? Could also be from alignment.
I agree with wheel bearing. Same thing with my 01 and only 32000. You have to do a hub and wheel bearing together. It is covered under the 7 yr 100,000 if your original owner. Hope this helps

Most common way of telling which wheel bearing is take it for a drive. Make some sharp turns and see if it gets louder if you turn left or right. Louder when you turn right? It's the left bearing and vice versa.
Are we talking about the front wheels only as possibly having bad wheel bearings?
The problem with this noise is that it does not occur until you reach 30 mph, so it would be hard to make a turn at 30 unless on a large parking lot. Should it make a noise on turns at lower speeds. I do not notice any noise in normal speed turns.
