Default Stratus 98 2.0 lts rough idle

hi im new here and im asking for uor help, i have a 98 2.0 lts std stratus, and i have a rough idle for a few moments, i mean every 3 o 4 seconds the engine at idle come rough for a second and then normally, another 3 or 4 seconds and the roughness appears, i listen at the pipe exhaust and listen normally and then bump listen like a cough one cough and then again normall

any help i would be apreciatted

Just curious, does check-engine-light illuminate? Also, does the engine smooth out when driving or reving-up the engine, or does it bump and hack at higher rpms and while driving too? -Scott

thanks scott, nop, the engine feels great only at idle its the failure, each four seconds the engine cought, but when i rev. de engine de rough dissapears

Is the AC on while this happens, or does it happen more when you turn the steering wheel and or have the wheel turned pretty far putting stress on the powersteering pump? Anything like that? Those things will cause the motor to bog down like that but the ECM compensates for it by bumping up the idle to keep it from dieing so to speak.
