Food for thought since it looks as if we are the last of the extinct breed. As the Stratus Coupe was discontinued in 2005 the Stratus never to recieve the new power plant for its sister... 06 Eclipse GT. The GT'smill is a3.8 liter V6 MIVEC system engine (Mitsubishi Innovative Variable timing and lift Electronic Control), this baby kicks out 60+ more horsepower than the 6G72. To boot this new 6G75 has2 newoptions for trannys which includea six-speed manual or a five-speed Sportronic® automatic transmission.
Anyone know if this uses the same block (used in the Galant 2003–present) or will it bolt in?

As I do agree with you, chassis modding is much more expensive and time consuming than electrinics. With any engine swap you may have to deal with wiring harnesses, ecu, etc. but if you can get a complete engine assembly you have a decent project. If the motor doesnt fit well then you have a very ruff road ahead of you. Any of us here that are motorsport savvy know that engine swaps are very common in the sport.
Even in these forums I have seen 2.4 to 3.0 swaps ... I think I even ran across an all wheel dirve Avenger. If this motor could drop in without clearance issues and minimal fabricating, I think computer/electronics swap would be a breeze. From the pictures I have seen it looks as if most upper mechanical (intake, throttlebody, manifold, etc.) stuff resides near if not exactly where the 6G72 goes. Let me know what you think.
I did a few searches and found several complete assemblies shipped for under $2500 bucks.
i thought that when the new eclipse GT was released, that the 3.8L MIVEC motor was just an enlarged 3.0L 6g72...just like the 3.0 in our cars were the same as the 2.5L in the avenger.
they are obviously the same engine family, but it would really matter where the motor mounts are, and the shape of the transmission surface on the block.
