our 05' Stratus just started to chug. was really bad the first time it did but its been calming down now. now all it is an annoyance. but when i opened the hood while the car was running, the engine was shaking like crazy which i think is why the car was shaking. i know its not un common for engines to shake but its worst than my engine in my Neon (and that one has bad motor mounts). could this be a prelude to the stalling problem?

ive not heard of a bad mount causing stalling problems. the front and rear mount in my stratus were wiped out, and the engine didnt appear to be moving more than usual, it just made an annoying noise.

what i'm talking about with the stalling is with the slight chugging that it does. it only has 33k on it so i know the motor mounts aren't shot. least shouldn't be but yet the motor moves more than my Neons one does so i was thinking that it might be a slight cause in the chug (aka the chug is causing the motor to shake more).
Is this car the biggest piece of junk on the market or what? I have an 06' with 28,000 miles now, and the car has had a fuel system problem that they MOSTLY fixed (still acts up on occasion), the front suspension is starting to really get on my nerves with its shimmying and popping like its already shot and now I'm hearing about motor mounts going out early.
I am absolutley shocked this car was on the market for as long as it was and that idiots like me are still buying them.
Then, I was told the other day while getting my oil changed at a local garage to keep an eye on my car because they have had alot of Stratus's come in with the 2.7 motor with blown head gaskets, sludge problems (even with changing the oil every 3,000), fuel system problems and one I had not heard before, radiator problems.
Funny thing! After I bought my car and was working with the dealer on getting the fuel problem fixed I took the mechanic for a ride to try to get the car to act up. He said he has been a mechanic for 25 years and he has never seen anything like these newer Dodge - Chrysler vehicles as far as acting up, breaking parts and computer problems. He said the new Caliber was in his opinion the biggest piece of junk they could possibly put on the market.
Oh, well, just my two cents (or less probably). At least my Dodge Truck has 60,000 miles with no major problems, only small electrical problems.
i love our Stratus and Sebring. but anyways...its a sedan, 2.4L. and automatic. and i dont blame the car. it was a rental car and we got it with 28k on it so i dont blame the car for its problems.
and actually the Stratus' are great cars for lasting long. i've heard of them lasting past 200k. which is great if u ask me. and for the 2.7l sludge problem. didn't they get that fixed in like 2005 with the introduction of the Magnum?
it sounds like someone got themselves a monday or friday car. my car has been DRIVEN HARD for 60,000 miles, and ive not had problems...just brake pads and tires.
