What size tires are those meanwhitemopar?

I'm getting ready to start a SAS on my dakota... putting a '79 F250 HD dana 44 front and '75 Chevy k20 14 bolt rear axle under it with 37x12.5x16.5 humvee tires. I'm hoping to have it done by April 17th!! I'm just curious how my truck will stand next to yours!

I also just found out that the open differential carrier in the 14 bolt is so strong that the detriot locker made for it is a lunchbox style locker!!! That makes it cheap... only $330 and no gear setup!! I'm going to try to get one for it so I don't have to run open diffs out there like I said I might have to do.

im runnin 37 12.50 TSL's ive seen hummvee tires at work.. the dont do as well as you may think...

if your going to run 37's youll need a bit more suspention under that dakota...

and for you to run a locker... have fun, the 14 bolt is a great axle, but dont get cocky its there... theres a reason i run 60's and not a 14 bolt

I remembered reading about humvee tires a while back and did a search to find where I read about them at, then I found it.

That's worth a read.

Wrong tires Sheriff. That is about the 36x12.50x16.5 Goodyear Wrangler RTII, which are a bias ply tire. I'm getting the 37x12.50x16.5 Goodyear MT Radial tires.

And I'm not about to argue that they are great tires, cause I have no personal experience with them yet, but for the price they will do for now.

Also, the suspension will be there meanwhitemopar! These are the springs I'm going to be using... (6 inch lift springs for a '79 bronco)

Here is a picture of a Dakota running the same setup I'm about to swap in on 33s, except this one doesn't have the 2 inch body lift mine has...

And the difference between 33s and 37s on the truck side is 2 inches...

well, then youll be sittin with me... but i think i will probably still hvae ya...

and the hummvee tires re differant then an MTR... the MTR is a great tire, nothing like tsls or boggers, but they are a very good mud terrain tire...

the hummve tires are " good year wrangler MT radials" which the government uses due to it low cost... so if yoru putting either tire, thats how i feel about each and being i have driven hummvee's the tires arent that great...

I don't expect them to be great, I got them because of the low cost as well! :P

But having had an all terrain tire on my truck for the past year that sucks in mud, it will be nice to at least have a mud terrain tire on it. When I get more money, I'll buy better tires, but I had to go cheap for what this axle swap has cost me so far!

Are there any common problems with them that you know about? Just curious what I should look out for.

The only reason I'm using a 14 bolt vs a dana 60 is because I got the axle for $100 and it is in decent shape.

I thought of that jeep forum thread when you mentioned humvee tires and thought I would share that guys experience with ya.
I was thinking that you were just getting a slightly taller military surplus tire like the ones on that forum.
You and meanwhitemopar ain't gonna leave the rest of us behind are you? You know we won't be able to follow y'all.
I just looked at that picture of the springs again, did anyone else see what the box says?

Lol, are you talking about the word "Fragile"? I'm sure JBG uses those boxes for more than just the springs! It is kinda funny though. I hope they aren't fragile cause I'm gonna beat on them pretty good. I'm not spending the time and money to make a really tall road queen!
