hey I just bought a 2001 V10 and I got it cheap because it had a broken rear end. it has the Dana 80 with 4:10 gears and it looks to have a locker in it. when i took the locker out and opened it i found my problem, 2 of the 4 side spider gears were blow apart. i have been looking around and a rear end for the truck is about $1100 and i was looking for a cheaper way out. i was thinking of just getting a detroit locker or something

Those #s are screwy I never understood it My 3.55s are listed as 3.54 in my PDF
so I'm thinking the 4.11 is listed as 4.10

I think the gear ratios are 411 for the rear and 410 for the front. That way, the front keeps the truck going straight, because it's always turning just a dab faster than the rear. There is not much difference between the 411 and the 410 but just enough that when the 4X4 is fully engaged or "locked In" everything works right. Also that is why the 354/355 combination works right. If you had the same gear ratio for the front and the rear, ie 411/411 the truck would be squirly.
That's the way I've been thinking for my 60 something years.

Yep,
I had 4.10's in the front and 4.11's in the rear. It keeps the gearing tight so there is no slap in the gearing backlash.
Yes there is a carrier break at 4.11, but AFTER that meaning if you go any bigger then you have to get a different carrier. So meaning I went from 3.55's to the 4.10 set up and used my carriers, but if I went to 4.56's then I would have to do a carrier swap.
As for the spider gear issue, you could drop in a new locker or simply pull it out and put Open gearing spiders in for cheap. But that would depend on if it was an open gearing carrier in the first place. Basically you would just rebuild what was there before the locker went in whether it was Open or LSD carrier.
