Hi I'm a new member and I Have What I hope is a simple question.
I Have a 1999 Neon Sport and The check engine light is on OBD reader returns
Code P1899 which is supose to be the Park Neutral switch mis reading.
Is this the same as the neutral safety switch ? One place I checked said to
replace the PCM.

Thanks

The park/neutral switch is the same as a saftey switch. What is the p-code from the scan tool?

Rick, a p-1899 code is for a p/n switch not reading correctly for a given mode of operation. 3 probable causes: 1-defective p/n switch 2-wiring issue 3- internal pcm failure. Take it to the dealer to have it fixed. We have the proper scan/test equipment as well as all the needed diag. material. Or you can just throw parts and money at it until you find it by chance.
