Default which headers

A while ago i had decided to wait for mopar to release their headers for the 5.7 but now after seeing the numbers from the edelbrock headers i'm looking more into the aftermarket stuff.
the guy at the service dept. at the local dealership said that doug thorley is bending the mopar headers, while thorley already has a set of headers for the hemi ram.
Does the manufacturer make a great deal of difference? (i.e. Gibson, thorley, Edelbrock)
If so which has generally been the best brand?

oh yeah are Dougs headers and Doug thorley headers the same thing?
i've seen alot of people on this site talking about "doug's headers"

Default RE: which headers

I know that the Edelbrock headers were quite impressive from the magazine article. I would check to see if Hooker has one or one in the works.

Here is a link to Hooker Headers: Hooker Headers

As far as I know, the two are different.

Default RE: which headers

Looks like the last application hooker headers had for dodge trucks was up until '93. I think i will keep calling around, nobody seems to have a price on the edelbrock headers.

one more Q. How much of a difference is there between shorty or long tube headers?

thanks for the Info

Default RE: which headers

If you can, go with long tube headers. Shortys are far better than stock, but the long tube are better. Long tube headers are usually equal length, this helps to keep the exhaust flow optimized, it keeps it in phase. With the equal length tubes each exhaust wave/pulse gets to the collector at different times instead of at the same time. If the pulses hit at the same time it will cause a build up of backpressure, nothing harmful, but noticable in performance. Both are great if your looking for more performance, but long tube/equal length headers are best if your wanting maximum performance.

Not a problem and good luck with the header hunting.[sm=smiley20.gif]
