Default Whats the best muffler ....

I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad 4.7L and want to put duals out the back. Can anyone tell where I can get a good sounding muffler? I want something fairly loud (like the flowmaster 40 series). Thanks...

Well get the Flowmaster 40 series then! hehe

Magnaflow, Borla, Dynomax, etc etc are all straight through glasspack type mufflers and will sound similar.
Flowmasters will most likely be louder than the straight through mufflers (in my experience).

Try a search on this site, many people have posted sound clips of their setups.

Personally, I wouldn't get anything but a Flowmaster for a V8. I love their performance and sound which is why I have them on my Roadrunner and my dad has them on his '69 Charger. There are several different versions of each series muffler they have, especially the 40 series, so be careful or you may not get the exact ones you want. Check their website and find the ones you want and write down the part number before getting them, so you can just give them the part number and be done.

flowmaster lost their patent.. there are several knock off brands what make the exact same muffler. For example, i was going to get a flowmaster muffler for my 4.7 ram... but instead got a v series (chinese lol) muffler and dumped 2 turn town tips on it...before the back axle to get that clean look coming from east texas, i didnt want a truck with dual cop caller 4 inch tips coming 5 inches out past my bumper. You cant even see my pipes and it sounds mean and very aggressive for a 4.7. Oh by the way, the muffler only costs 90 bucks to buy and install

Flows are good. I like Dynomax too, they have several series as well.
