Default 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 45RFE Trans Problem

Not sure if there's any tranny guys here or not but I'm a DIY guy trying to figure out a trans problem. I've got a 45REFE with a P1698 code (no bus msg from TCM). Trans acts stupid (normal on highway-no slipping also no O/D but rpm is way high starting out (is this how limp mode works?).

My local trans shop says even if the TCM is bad it still should act normally in Rev and Low so trans has gotta go (he sells rebuilt trannys). Not so sure after reviewing the Chrysler Master Videos, ALLDATA troubleshooting and other posted tech data.

Any thoughts? Thx, bob

Starting to check out the wire bundles, connectors etc but have so far not found any problems. Of note, a couple of weeks ago the ac, windows and instruments cluster were malfunctioning intermittently, but have since returned to normal.

High RPM on startup is normally the TPS. Use Mopar sensors only.
