Default 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee v8 randomly dies

This has happen several times..driving along and the engine just quits so no power steering, brakes etc. very scary. It will start right back up after I roll to a stop and run like nothing is wrong again until it quits again. This has happen on the highway at 70mph and on local streets at 30-40mph.

In the shop for weeks and they couldn't find anything. They are saying it has to happen while they are working on it for them to see what's up..and this is so random that it unlikely to happen.

So anyone hear of this before with Jeep..I am leaning toward a computer "brain" malfunction..but which one(s) could shut the car off complete in an instant..no warning and then allow it to start back up and run fine until the next time. I don't want to start throwing parts at it especially expensive computer modules.

can anyone point me to a thread, a recall, a service bulletin????

HELP!!!

Hi rbg,

I'm sorry to hear this is happening with your GC. As you said in your post, it does make it difficult for the dealership to diagnose and repair the vehicle if there are no codes stored and the concern does not replicate for them. If you wanted to check on any closed or open recalls on the vehicle, you can go to https://www.mopar.com/dodge/en-us/my...e/recalls.html, although your dealership would already have checked for open recalls. Do you know if they have contacted our corporate techs for additional support?
