Those would technically be sports cars. Sports cars are 2 seaters with less than 8 cylinders generally, although the Corvette is usually considered a sports car. Sport compacts are 4 seaters, 2 or 4 door, less than 8 cylinders and usually inexpensive. This is the basic breakdown between the two, the main difference being the seating. I have no idea why, but this is how they seem to be seperated.

After a little thinking the sports cares may have to be RWD or AWD and not FWD to truely be a sports car, but I'll have to check into it to make sure.

Has anyone read the issue yet. Im a little upset. #2 car of the top 100 BEST sport compact cars of all time. I will quote "1992-1995 Honda Civic - Not the quickest, best handling, or even best looking sport compact......... (WTF??? They rated this car #2? I'll go on.) but definitely the most popular. Easy to make fast this civic was the standard platform upon which sport compact phnonenon was built. This car has been butchered more ways then prime rib."

Maybe its just me but the word "Best" when it comes to cars has nothing to do with how popular it was. As far as being the god fathers of the sport compact phnonenon, I think not honda. I think honda just made a reliable car. Parents like to buy their kids "reliable cars" Kids like to fix up anything they own so that fired the whole raced out civic era. The word "Best" to me means alot of things to me: handling, power, features etc... When you to the store and buy anything you may say "give me your best (fill in the blank with item). They will get you the best item based on performance of the product. Not by how popular it is. Grrrrr IMO SRT4 should have been in the top 3 its listed #16 when i think sport compact 3 cars come to mind SRT4 WRX & EVO maybe its just because I jumped in the game. Perhaps I understand you cant base the 100 best of all time just on the last 3-4 years But EVO is #1 and WRX is #3 SRT is #16? Just two higher the the Eclipse GTX come on. The only thing the SRT4 lacks is AWD I think their a little agaisnt dodge all they had to say about the SRT4 is: "Its still a shock that this turbo charged twerp is a dodge".....

Ok enough enough. Maybe Im ignorant. Maybe I have no clue what Im talking about. All i know is that this kinda pissed me off. So Now its known how I feel and i have vented it. AHHHHHH I hope this didnt upset anyone. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, and please if im wrong put me in my place.....

I have read it and had the same exact pissed off reaction that you had. They also have some rickety old turds on the list above several high tech performance icons too.[:@][:@]

i agree with choices of the SRT-4, WRX and EVO. But i would include STi and Supra as well that should command a little more respect in the list.

Which got me thinking.... Since DCX has a stake in Mitsu... Why not adopt the AWD from the EVO and use it in the SRT-4.

Then again why mess with a great auto.

There is rumors that they may do just that since the new '06 Neons will be using the Mitsubishi Lancers frame and a Hyundai sourced motor.

A hyundai motor say it aint so. i promissed my self that i would never buy a korean car after my hyundai Excel. i would hate see dodge put such an inferior motor in a Lancer would rather see them put a 4g63 motor in it.
