Default 1987 Chrysler Conquest TSI.......

Anyone had any experience w/ this car? Is it very fast? Couldn't find a forum dedicated to these cars so I thought I'd try my luck here on my favorite forum. Anyway, I have a friend at work who has one of these puppies in mint condition w/ 50,000 original miles. If you knew this guy, you'd know that this car is IMACULATE! He wants to sell along with 4 other parts cars, one of which runs, but has no title and a little knocking action(he said the previous owner liked to drag race it......). He is going to think over a price tonight and get back with me. He is a great guy and I know he won't ask much for them or try to rip me off. Even though it will dip into my stage 2 fund, what do you guys think? Are these things good cars or slow turds?

Did a little snooping. Found this www.starquestclub.com . The Conquest is the same as a Starion. Cool little cars from what I've heard. Turbo 4banger with RWD.

Well, from what I've heard, the Conquest was a very sporty car when it came out. It handled good and had good power. If its in good condition I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up,. I'm not sure the power specs on it, but I'm sure there's a few bolt on goodies you could add and have yourself a sleeper fast car.

I know someone that had one from new. very nice imho, interior was sweet, rode/drove nice. this was the prequil to the eclipse, and probably would take to the first gen eclipse mods well. I dont know the stats but I would leave it stock and run the wheels off it. Cool ride, not many of them out there.

I ripped a turbo off one w/ the 2.6 and the blocks are notorious for cracking and blowing oil all over.....The same was evident w/ the one I parted. Anyhow they are quick but not as fast as they could be w/ mods. the turbo is a code Ive never seen. THe outlet it wasnt a TD04H but was the size of the 16g td-05h and had a different sized exhaust outlet housing....it was like the turbo code 04 but cannot remember the code b/c I sold it to a friend. It def. wasnt the td04 tho. Anyhow There was a red conquest that saw my neon and revving at me and he took off ond i took off....maybe something was wrong w/ it but didnt seem very fast cuz i was only shifting maybe five grand each gear. b/c the person w/ me didnt appreciate the driving. im sure top end it would have done well tho.

Those were pretty cool cars back then. I would love to get a solid one and do an engine swap. Can you say HEMI??????

I always loved the Conquest, it looks great inside and out and the fact that they are RWD. I always wanted one, but only if I had a 360 and transmission to put in it to replace the 2.6L turbo. I have driven a few and they were very unimpressive which is why I never bought one and why I won't unless I have a smallblock V8 and transmission to go in it.
