Default torque converter

k, ive been to garage after garage, finally i found one that was able to tell me my problem. the symptoms are, it wont shift into 4th or overdrive. its a 93 dakota with a 3.9L bone stock engine and tranny. i was told that the torque converter clutch solenoid is starting to go on it. my main question is, where the hell is it? i was also told that if i unplug it, the truck should shift properly with a little slippage and fuel mileage difference. I wanna find this peice so that i can unplug it and test the theory cuz id rather have it slip a lil that not shift at all. ive also been through book after book trying to find this part, but nothing.

please help!
