Well, this year marked my first year for Amanda and I dragging the Demon down to columbus for the nationals. it was there last year, but my dad towed it out from PA, and weve done a bit to it since then.
The event itself has soured a bit, as the swap meet area was smaller than usual, and it was not as crowded as its been in past years, although i know that attendance has been suffering for a handful of reasons. Ive been going since the early 90s, from indy to columbus, and ive not missed a year, IIRC. this was Amandas third year attending.
the brice road activities were suffocated by the columbus and reynoldsburg police, and the pigs in that area are quickly killing the mopar crowd, as some other smaller towns realize the financial benefit of having the huge crowd come to their town...but columbud and reynoldsburg would rather sink deeper into the ghetto slum that is THE ohio state university..but whatever. the cops made cruising miserable with road blocks before it was even dark...and they make it very difficult to get around the area, even if youre not cruising. their big "stand" is against burnouts, but during a short cruise in the demon with my dad, i rolled through some water and let it rip, laying a little smoke and rubber..but nothing big.
however, when we got back to our hotel and pulled around back where we had the motorhome, ram, and trailer, there was a huge group of people sitting around their cars, drinking...i stopped and pulled the demon into first and someone gave me the command to light em up, so i stood on the brakes and smouldered the tires through all three gears, letting it roll forward and spin through third gear...amanda came out of the motorhome with the camera to get pics of a second one, but when i turned around and came back it started to rain, so i parked it for the night. a cop came blowing through the lot a short time later asking who did it...and when they left a guy parked next to me with a gorgeous 70 dart 340 4-speed backed out of his spot and did an awesome burnout...but i took some pics of the strips from the demon. here are two shots, one that night and one the next morning, with my dad standing where the rubber strips stopped, and in the AM i put a shoe at the end and paced it out...around 57-58 feet.
here are some pictures i took early saturday morning after i shined up the demon and ram..
and a couple sexy pictures of the demon on the trailer behind the ram..
we should have had pictures of amanda driving the demon and beating another demon from a 40-100 roll, but i couldnt reach the camera in time (i was driving the ram and trailer behind them)...

I didn't even make it out to Brice this year. Last year sucked. the cops weren't allowing anything at all. they were randomly pulling Muscle cars over and such it was a total waste.
oh, and i forgot to mention the booty from this year.
no, not that kind of booty...
we spent all day friday and saturday scouring the swap meet area with a laundry list of needed items for the demon. we also added a few dozen new items to the dodge room, but more importantly we got some new stuff for the demon.
first, amanda found a "340 4-barrell" decal, similar to what came on the demon originally, for the air cleaner. i was looking at era-correct air cleaners, but theyre all so poor flowing that im going to go with a simple K&N filter with a nice plain chrome lid, with the 340 decal on it. not only are the stock looking air cleaners low flowing, but people are also asking hundreds of dollars for them...if i decide that i want a stock looking one that badly, the mirada has a really nice original 340 air cleaner...but for now, nothing else looks stock so ill go with the better flowing unit.
next, we found a 1972 radio. i dont know if it works, but our demon came with NONE of the radio items. no radio, speakers, or wiring, and the bad part is that it leaves an ugly hole in the dash. now all i need to find is a faceplate and ill have a stock radio setup (with no speakers for now).
finally, one of the things about the car that i dislike the most is how ugly our bumpers are. ive seen much worse, but the chrome isnt great on the front bumper, and both are a little beat up. i priced out new chrome bumpers, and they would be somewhere in the area of a thousand dollars...and i wasnt that interested in them. however, the good people at AAR fiberglass had a front and rear demon bumper in stock and we got a great price on them so once painted, it will have great looking bumpers, and they will knock another 100 or so pounds off the car.
