I agree with the above said, I wasn't the best at school either and hated every minute of it, but I sure in hell wasn't going to work at a fast food place all my life, I went to a trade school picked my career as a welder more hands of and less book work. I think a trade school is your best bet.
sorry for rambling on.

Anybody got an idea on cost. (very ruff) Hey jeff I work in a kitchen for a rehab hospital they pay pretty bad good for the job I would tell any kid to get a job there any day. Plus its not that bad the work is easy. I'm making 13 an hr now.
I am currently attending school while I work full time hours. Does school suck sometimes? Of course. But like others said, you need a degree to get ahead right now, especially with the depression we're currently in. Only reason I am advancing at all right now in my current job is because of the experience I'm building up. As soon as I have my degree, I should be able to land some much better paying IT jobs. Until then, where I'm at works, and is much better than many of my other friends who don't have jobs right now.
For cost, depends on what state/where and exactly what university.
Let me find my last tuition bill for DeVry University (based out of Chicago) and I will post an update here...
My last bill was about $3900 last semester because of "technology" fees, due to a couple technical courses I am taking this semester. Usually, I'm only about $3700-$3800 per semester.
Don't forget about grants and, if you have to, student loans. Sure, ya gotta pay them back, but the extra $$$ you get with a degree more than compensates for the extra monthly payment after you graduate.

It takes time, and I'm willing to bet in the financial situation we're in right now, harder than ever to find grants. But, still worth it! (Free money!!)
I often wonder how it'd be different if I went to college instead of joining the Air Force to fight the War For Oil. But, being 4 years out of high school, I'm fairly happy with where I'm at. (Got a truck, a car, and a house, not bad for being 22!)
An education will always come in handy. The job you want right now might not need a degree or whatever, but sometimes people make career changes, and it's nice to have that paper to back you up.
