ChallengerLover, they are Buick Regals....and they do resemble the Monte Carlo's and the Miradas...however....neither of those cars could touch the Grand National

I dont like that GNX illustration...its looks like a chopped 4dr Regal with a bodykit. I will admit however I'm impressed with the lines and glad to see they are bringing it back.
Umm that dont quite make sense dude! You dont like the new GNX because it looks like a chopped 4dr Regal with a bodykit. Well I got news for ya JUNIOR; the new GNX is to look like the Regal, because it is A REGAL; just like the former GNX was a REGAL!

Oh and the Buick Regal is a MONTE CARLO with a Buick badge. And they did not resemble one bit of the Mirada. I just dont see where in the hell you got that comparison?

I first fell in lust with the GN's & GNX's back when I was working in the make-ready dept of a buick dealer back in '86-'87 and got the chance to drive them brand new. My fondest memory of them then was that second gear tear(not a simple scratch) where the whole car's ass-end would surge to the right as the tires broke loose and then the posi rear and tires would grab the pavement and send you forward like a rocket was attached to the back, all the while that turbo was whistling up like it was going to explode.

I managed to come across the GN I have now for a great deal so I had extra cash and decided I had to have it. I would have pictures of it but since I just got the doors back from paint and havent put them back on the car and I also threw the old carpet out to be replaced with new so the interior isnt in it, it just woulndt make for impressive photography right now.

And as for a new GN by Buick... it would be cool to see the revival of this namesake but it will never be able to replace the original, much like Chrysler is trying to do with the Charger and the HEMI name. Although after driving the 300C SRT8 with that 6.1 in it, I will admit that the SRT* versions are about as close to the old ones as we can get just they have 4 doors. I am waiting till they stick that 6.1 in a SC RAM 1/2 ton so I can go trade mine in on one.

Hey Spear-em, the Grand National/Regal was to a Monte Carlo like the Monta Carlo was to the Cutlass, they were all built on the same platform but none shared any body work and the GN was definitely different than either of the Cutlass or the Monte Carlo lines since it was the only one with the turbo V6/tranny and rear end combo that it had.

The closest the Monte Carlo and the Buick Regal came to being the same car was chassis only and maybe a few interior pieces. The Regals only came with V6 engines. Also, they were turbo'd and were spanking the Monte Carlo's left and right. There is NO WAY you can even remotely confuse the Monte Carlo and Buick Regal. Especially the 1987 models.

As for my remark about the chopped 4dr.........I merely meant that it looked like they cut out about a foot of the car and added a body kit.....and considering its "supposedly" a 2008 model.....it really does look like crap. I mean it looks like they took and cut the rear door in half and welded it into one piece of metal behind the front doors....

The GN's were not known for their reliability though. The 3.8L v-6 GM engine was not a good piece.

I love GNX's. It looks like the Viper driver cannot shift too well.

How come the Viper gave up?? As soon as he started to pull he gave up...what a pussy! My uncle had a Grand National...it was nice! I went to a show room the other day and saw a mint '83 Hurst Olds 442, it was so hot! It reminds me of the GN...but probably not as fast.
