The only other conference that will get respect from me is the SEC. Take a look at the Top 25.....Michigan 3, OSU 4, Iowa 8. Only to be outdone by the SEC having 4 in the Top 10. The Big 12 gave up all their glory with the debacle in Norman this past weekend....c'mon...TCU? And the ACC is up and coming, but they still haven't crossed that bridge. And they won't, if they continue to have games like the FSU/Miami from Monday night. Didn't watch it, but heard is was horrible.
What do you mean, "handed a championship?" Miami saw a defense that was far beyond anything they ever imagined or saw that year. I think the stat was something like....Miami QB only sacked 6 or 7 times all season, sacked 4 or 5 times in the first quarter or half. And Miami had such a fast and dominant defense...hey, we put up as many points as they did, in fact, more. I'll argue with you all day (in a logical and mature manner, of course) about that championship game. Either way, it was clearly the greatest college football game of all time.

The "handed championship remark" is indeed a FACT.......take away the ridiculous refereeing in that game...mind you...i'm talking for both teams.....and you still have to add in that the best player in THAT game....Willis McGahee...is gone before half time....and yet it takes some refereeing error for OSU to get the ball in order to win said game.....
Truth is...we can moan and whine all we want about that game.....but I'm glad to see the instant replay finally in all the televised games......its not perfect....but it prevents stupid mistakes like those made in that championship game.....
I will however agree that it's definitely one of the better championship games I've seen.....although I thought the VT/FSU one was just as good....
One last note....the Hurricanes have lost something like 30 players in the last 2-3 years alone that are all like 1st 2nd 3rd round draft picks.....and they've put more ppl into the NFL in the last 5 years then most schools have done in twice that time.....so lets be honest.....they really are playing more down to earth then they have in a while.....just like USC will once they get beat by Cal....
this is my first year in 11 years that i will not be in the stands, rain or shine, come hell or high water, to watch my beloved panthers play, and in moving away from my team, i am at the liberty of the media in keeping up with what is going on, as i do not have many friends here, and i dont know anyone here that is into college ball..i like college ball more than pro...
I am a Pitt fan, and athletic alumni, point and laugh as you see fit, but it wont bother me any. i know that our conference is a bit of a joke for football, but this will, im sure, be our worst year since 1998 (2-9). that being said, part of my hatred of the pig ten is due to our rivalry with penn s*it, and their program has become a real joke due to their 200yo coach. it seems to me that pig ten fans seem to always like lots of teams, and i just dont have any respect for people who are like my favorite teams are this school and this school and this school and this school....and if you check, in most cases, all of those teams are above 500 that year, or projected to be so...

The only "handing" was done by the media before the game was even played. According to them, Ohio State had no business being there in the first place. Jim Rome was even part of it, saying, "the Buckeyes have the right to go there and get run." Contrary to what you're saying, I don't think there was a legitimate MVP of that game, aside from Craig Krenzel being the heart and soul of the winning team's offense. OSU's defense set the tone and controlled the game.
No arguement from me about the Hurricanes producing the type of talent they have. The only controversy is they must be doing something extra to recruit those types of kids. But hey, it's only cheating if you get caught.
What was your favorite play from that championship game? Mine was when Maurice Clarett stripped the mighty Shaun Taylor of his interception return. Say what you want about Clarett nowadays, but he showed 110% effort in that game.

well my Fightin Irish havent been sh*t in years....and that fluke of a season under Willingham was a joke....because they got lucky....
last year Brady Quinn throws for 500 yards in a game....and LOSES.....and only manages 14 pts in the loss.....c'mon....something isnt right with that.....uhhhhh you cant run a west coast offense with players not built for it....
I wasnt saying MVP, I'm saying best player period......Krenzel was a half talented player playing in a system designed for his type of play.....same thing could be said of Ken Dorsey as well....
The Hurricanes were just the better team in the last 10 yrs or so.....just like the Irish were in the 80's.....I mean USC is the team of the 2000's.......its just the team that wins big gets a bunch of players in for a few years.....thats all it is.....Cal IS a VERY dangerous team.....
Pitt's going to be decent this year.....but hopefully they can get those guys some help on defense.....Palko cant do it by himself......
if by decent, you mean that they will be in the middle of an awful big east pack, i agree...
i have nothing good to say about maurice clarett..he is the kind of player that makes college football "a joke" to those who dont like college ball...he is a rolling circus act...he will just eventually end up in the pros, acting just like the hoodrat trash that he is, and just like most hoodrat trash, he will end up taking a slug, or getting himself into drug trouble, and i will applaud it when it happens..i just hope he doesnt play for the steelers when it happens...

VT just became ACC last year.....and Clemson is up and down too much.....my only point was that the ACC was traditionally a basketball conference with the oddballs being the football teams....which is Miami and FSU.....

Obviously I'm joking about ACC running the NCAA football world. But, you're right, they might be one of the best basketball conferences there is.
But I wasn't joking about the SEC. Great teams, been there forever...
