Hell, that's the extent of my knowledge on domestics. I'm an import guy. My old Celica was built for the explicit purpose of picking on guys in their domestics trying to impress their girlfriends by racing a Celica. Hehehe. It never made it to the track, but it got to the street races plenty(I was young and stupid). Course a F-150 took care of that car a few years ago.

never been to Pittsburgh, too cold. I'm a Florida boy. it was a black Celica, it was the ST, but I had it running 230hp(all-motor), double the stock numbers(almost exclusively custom built). It was a sleeper. I never hit someone up for a race, I let them hit me up. It had side exit exhaust, but I left the stock muffler on the back
Wanna talk about timing though, my uncle(he's a master mechanic, 30+yrs in the business) had just found me a 91 supra motor and an all-trac transaxle that we were gonna use to build the ultimate all-motor sleeper.
Granted it was only a sleeper when sitting at the light, the second I'd step on the gas it roared to life. and the guy next to me knew he'd just been suckered in. I did lose a few times, but not often. Typically the guys that could beat me knew exactly what I was when they pulled up next to me and saw the seemingly stock wheels were about 3inches too big to be stock. And that there was a big ass pipe coming out from behind the front tire.

the 1zj was the 2.5 version of the later-built 2jz, which was the 3.0...i realized that i was in the wrong era...the information that i have only lists the 7MGE as the high end engine in the "1989 production" models...which was then replaced the following year by the 1g and 1jz for a couple years, and when the body style went to the "final" gen of the supra, the 2jz came in with the GE and GTE trim.
